Your Guide to Hiking Ramparts Trail in Cedar Breaks

Trail Details

The trail begins at the Cedar Breaks National Monument Visitor Center. From there, the four-mile out-and-back trek follows along the edge of the canyon. A distinctly marked pathway continues around some light tree cover until you pop out at Spectra Point. This stunning spot provides guests with panoramic views of the naturally formed amphitheater and marks the halfway point in between the visitor center and the end point. Cedar Break's Rampart Trail continues along the side of the canyon where you'll experience a few steep hills and rocky edges. You're next stop; Ramparts Overlook which is the end of the trail. Feast your eyes on the bizarre and beautiful red rock formations. After you take in the scenery, follow the path back to the visitors center, and you'll be off to your next adventure!

Difficulty

Ramparts Trail in Cedar Breaks National Monument is a relatively easy to moderate hike. It's fantastic for families who want to get a sample of the amazing Southern Utah landscapes without the strenuous or challenging physical test that some other nearby parks require to explore the area. This trail shouldn't take more than an hour if you move at a steady pace, but it's still a good idea to bring water and snacks if you want to take a break and enjoy Spectra Point and Ramparts Overlook on a gorgeous day.

There isn't a spot on this trail that doesn't have something picture worthy along the way, but the two major photo ops on Ramparts Trail in Cedar Breaks are Spectra Point and Ramparts Overlook.
