The Red Rock Relay: The Details You Need to Know

The Red Rock Relay takes place in early September every year. The 2017 installment is scheduled for the weekend of September 9 - 10. Runners can participate in teams of 12 or six. Leg one of the race will begin in Brian Head, UT, with a ride up the ski lift at the Brian Head Resort. Legs two through 24 wind through the stunning Cedar Breaks National Monument and the serene Dixie National Forest. You'll have the chance to see the Pine Valley Mountains, Dammeron Valley, Snow Canyon, and St. George on legs 25 through 36. Finish the race at the entrance to Zion National Park. Over the course of the race, participants will descend over 8,000 feet! When you're not running, be prepared to cheer on your other teammates, as they will for you. Party vehicles will follow the route and supply all that you need. You'll find them packed with running gear, sleeping bags, sports drinks, and energy bars.

What To Do After the Red Rock Relay Is Over

After you cross the finish line and celebrate with your team, venture out to spend some leisure time in the region. Bryce Canyon should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The park is famous for its hoodoos, and there are several lookout points from which you can observe them. Or, head to Panguitch Lake for a relaxing day of fishing. Of course, you can always go back to any of the exquisite points you passed along the trail and enjoy them, as well!
