Your Guide to the Best Time to Visit Bryce Canyon National Park
When Should You Visit Bryce Canyon?
The best time to visit Bryce Canyon National Park is between May and September. The warmer weather allows you to get out and explore without having to bundle up for an adventure. A lack of rain makes it safe to traverse most of the canyons without the worry of flash flooding. Of course, the fantastic weather also draws in larger crowds, so if you want to escape for a quiet retreat in Southern Utah, then we recommend visiting during the fall or winter when you can still explore most of Bryce Canyon barring a major snowstorm. What Can You See and Do?
The summer months offer unparalleled hiking in Southern Utah. This is the best time to visit Bryce Canyon for daylong excursions on the miles of trails weaving through the park. Explore the vast canyons with vibrant hues of red and brown scaling the walls around the most famous structures in Bryce Canyon'"hoodoos. These tall, skinny rock spires reach up to the sky in clusters around the park, creating one of the most memorable images in all of Southern Utah. You can see these marvelous geological wonders without hiking by driving up to one of the overlooks. Sunset Point and Bryce Point offer views that are second to none and have plenty of parking available. Bryce Canyon Park Rangers lead a variety of programs during the summer, but the most renowned event is the Astronomy Festival in June. They also have a Prairie Dog Day celebration and an annual Geology Festival. If you visit in the fall or winter, beautiful foliage illuminate the canyons in a collection of colors. You should have most of the hiking trails to yourself during this time, which excellent snowshoeing opportunities. However, there are fewer ranger-led programs and fewer access points open throughout the park due to the snow and ice that form in the winter. How Do You Get There?
The best time to travel to Bryce Canyon National Park is during the summer when the roads are open and clear, and you can access every entrance to the park. In winter, more of the roads close down, and you will need snow chains for your tires in some areas.Follow these directions from your Family Time Vacation Rental property to reach Bryce Canyon National Park!
